The BBFC hosts a limited number of External Presentations and Workshops for students at their place of study. These are currently free of charge. If you would like to find out more or make a preliminary booking, please contact us.
The BBFC regularly hosts educational events at UK Film Festivals. If you would like us to be part of your Festival's education programme, contact us.
The BBFC is currently running regular Student Seminars during term times. Students studying the topics of Film Censorship and/or Media Regulation are invited to attend a morning session with Examiners, held at the Board's offices in central London (for location map and travel directions, click here). Each session will consist of a presentation by an Examiner illustrated by clips from relevant films and a chance to ask questions about the work of the BBFC. For larger block bookings there is an opportunity for the session to be customised to the needs of a particular group. Please note that plenty of notice needs to be given for this. All seminars take place on a Thursday.
If you cannot attend a seminar or would like to get a sneak preview please view our online seminar also available in the Resources sections of this website.
If you cannot attend a seminar or would like to get a sneak preview please view our online seminar also available in the Resources sections of this website.
Please note that attendance at BBFC Seminars for the new season (from 1st September 2011) will incur a non-refundable charge with a fee structure as follows:
Individuals: £6 each
Groups (6-10 members including staff): £30 per group
Groups (11-20 members including staff): £45 per group
Groups (21+ members including staff): £70 per group
If you'd like to know why we've started to charge for our in-house seminars, please contact us.
Please note the following points about our inhouse seminars:
• sessions begin at 11.00am and finish at 1.00pm
• there is an upper limit of 35 places per seminar (including teachers / supervisors) owing to restrictions on space
• for large groups of accompanied students, we make allowance for one teacher/tutor to attend for every 10 of their students present e.g. for a block booking of twenty students, a maximum of two of their teachers/tutors are able to attend
• seminar places will be issued on a strictly first come, first served basis
In house seminars are generally hosted at BBFC headquarters in Soho Square. There is a map available here. If you or your party are delayed en route to your seminar, please ring the BBFC switchboard on 020 7440 1570 as soon as possible to let the host know you are running late. While all attempts will be made to accommodate latecomers, it may be necessary for latecomers to wait until there is a member of staff to escort them to the seminar.
Please ensure your party knows this is a working building, so it is essential that visitors are prompt and that students are supervised at all times.
For Health and Safety reasons it is important for teachers to bring a list of attendees – including students and teachers, and to let the BBFC know ahead of time what ages the students are.
