ORDER YOUR FREE BBFC DVD resource, made with Film Education here
The BBFC Education Department and Film Education have collaborated to produce a unique resource pack for teachers and students of Key Stage 4, A-level or Higher, BTEC and Creative Diploma Media, Film, Citizenship and General Studies courses.
‘BBFC: Behind the Scenes’ is designed to help students to explore the issues that affect classification for the release of films, DVDs and computer games, using a range of interactive exercises and in-depth written articles. The resource also offers teachers and lecturers a range of activities - ‘Meet the Examiners’, ‘Investigate the Issues’ etc. - that can be used in the classroom or placed on a school / college network at no further cost.
All of the material on ‘BBFC: Behind the Scenes’ has been produced by specialist BBFC in-house examiners and uses relevant contemporary case studies to examine the role of regulation and classification in the UK. The resource also contains film clips that illustrate the issues being considered and offer students the opportunity to approach classification from a number of key curriculum perspectives; including institution, audience, genre, ideology, narrative and representation.
‘BBFC: Behind the Scenes’ is also accompanied by a set of Teachers’ Notes designed to help deliver the content with the relevant curriculum specifications. It is available to teachers free of charge and is easy to install and can be used straight away.
