Resources

The SBBFC resources page has a wealth of information to help you research and write about the history of film, video and games classification in the UK! Our Student Guide is the best place to start, offering a detailed overview into all aspects of regulation and censorship…from key moments in history to recent classification decisions. All of the material is written by expert BBFC staff and often uses original source material to provide a unique insight into the work of the Board.

If you want to know how the BBFC have dealt with specific issues you can enter our virtual cinema and use the Timelines section to guide you through important landmarks in BBFC classification history from 1912 to present day.

Our Multi-Media section can provide you with a video stream of our on-line seminar as well as podcasts on a number of hot topics, such as South Asian cinema and Japanese Anime!

Need further information? Our extensive reading list will help point you in the direction of further books and websites on classification and censorship issues. If you need to find out more information on how to book a place on one of our in-house seminars you can do so by clicking here.
